Question: How do I get a marriage license?

Answer: Marriage licenses are handled by the Craighead County Clerk. You can contact them by calling (870) 933-4520. You can also visit their web page at http://www.craigheadcounty.org/elected_officials/index.html to find additional contact information as well as helpful information regarding marriage licenses.

Question: The Metropolitan Area Planning Commission (MAPC) has approved my rezoning. What do I need to do in order to place it on the City Council agenda for approval?

Answer: Once a rezoning has been approved by the Metropolitan Area Planning Commission, you must submit an ordinance and plat to the Office of the City Clerk. There will be a publication fee of $175 required at the time your rezoning request is submitted. It is also asked for all documents to be e-mailed to the City Clerk at djackson@jonesboro.org. All requests must be provided by 10:00 a.m. on the Thursday before the City Council meeting. The City Council meeting on the first and third Tuesdays of each month.

Question: Is there a deadline for placing items on the City Council agenda?

Answer: Yes. Items must be submitted by 10 a.m. on the Thursday before the City Council meeting. The City Council regularly meets on the first and third Tuesdays of each  month.

Question: I visited the Agendas & Minutes page and noticed some of the recent meeting minutes are not on the web site. Why?

Answer: During a meeting the Council or Council committee may vote to make changes to the minutes. To ensure accuracy, meeting minutes are not published on the web site until they have been approved by the committee and/or Council.
