Question:
The Metropolitan
Area Planning
Commission
(MAPC) has
approved my
rezoning. What
do I need to do
in order to
place it on the
City Council
agenda for
approval?
Answer:
Once a rezoning
has been
approved by the
MAPC, you must
submit an
ordinance, plat
and publication
fee in order for
it to be placed
on the City
Council agenda.
The ordinance
and plat need to
be submitted via
email to Donna
Jackson at
djackson@jonesboro.org
in the Office of
the City Clerk
prior to the
publication fee
being paid. The
publication fee
is a per word
fee.
The fee can be
paid at the City
Collector's
Office at City
Hall, 515
Washington.
Contact the City
Collector's
Office at (870)
932-3042 to find
out the current
publication fee.
Also, hard
copies of the
ordinance and
plat, as well as
a receipt from
the City
Collector's
Office showing
payment, will
need to be
submitted to the
Office of the
City Clerk in
City Hall. The
ordinance and
plat, as well as
the publication
fee, must be
submitted by
10:00 a.m. on
the Thursday
before the City
Council meeting.
The City Council
meets on the
first and third
Tuesday of each
month.

Question:
I have a
street/alley
that I would
like to be
abandoned or
vacated. What do
I need to submit
so I can put it
on the City
Council agenda?
Answer:
In order for an
abandonment to
be placed on the
City Council
agenda, the
following items
must be
submitted to the
Office of the
City Clerk by 10
a.m. the
Thursday before
the City Council
meeting:
- a
notarized petition
from adjoining
property owners
authorizing the
abandonment -
all property
owners with
property
touching the
area to be
abandoned/vacated must sign
the petition.
The
original
petition must be
submitted to the
City Clerk's
Office.
- a resolution
requesting a
public hearing
regarding the
abandonment
- a notice to be
published in the
newspaper
announcing the
public hearing
(time and date
can be left
blank and will
be filled in by
the City Clerk's
Office after the
passage of the
resolution)
- an ordinance
authorizing the
abandonment
- a plat of the
property
- letters from
all utility
companies
authorizing the
abandonment
(companies
included but not
limited to: City
Water and Light,
Suddenlink,
Centerpoint,
AT&T)
- a letter from
the City of
Jonesboro
Planning
Department
authorizing the
abandonment
- receipt
showing payment
of publication
fee*
*The publication
fee can be paid
at the City
Collector's
Office in City
Hall, 515 West
Washington. They
will provide you
with a receipt
that needs to be
submitted with
the rest of your
documents to the
Office of the
City Clerk.

Minutes page and
noticed some of
the recent meeting
minutes are not
on the web site.
Why?
Answer:
During a meeting
the Council or
Council
committee may
vote to make
changes to the
minutes. To
ensure accuracy,
meeting minutes
are not
published on the
web site until
they have been
approved by the
committee and/or
Council.
